The 4 Levels of Cosmetic Medical Care
Cosmetic medical care today spans many treatments and procedures. From nonsurgical beauty treatments to more intensive invasive procedures. Patients have a variety of options to keep up their appearance for a lifetime.
The Four Levels of Cosmetic Care
Noninvasive, Minimally Invasive, Moderately Invasive, Surgical
Noninvasive:
Noninvasive cosmetic procedures, or spa treatments, are therapeutic and relaxing, designed primarily to reduce blemishes, revitalize and protect the skin. These results are surface and temporary.
Examples include facials, massages, wraps. These techniques and treatments are best for all ages. Younger people who want to improve skin tone to older adults looking to relive muscle tension.
Minimally Invasive:
Minimally invasive treatments even out skin tone and texture, remove unwanted hair and stimulate collagen production to help even out the complexion and improve fine lines and wrinkles.
These procedures include light-based treatments, photofacials or intense pulsed light, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, spider vein treatments, laser hair reduction. Most of these treatments require a series of treatments and are performed by a nurse with special training.
Medical grade skin care achieves excellent results and are good for all ages.
Moderately Invasive:
Moderately invasive procedures, while nonsurgical, are neither risk-free nor a substitute for plastic surgery. This level includes injection therapy with a wrinkle relaxer like, Botox or Xeomin, soft tissue fillers, laser skin resurfacing, and deep chemical peels.
The result from these treatments varies from months to a few years. For a time, they can reduce the appearance of lines and creases, plump the lips, enhance shallow contours and soften wrinkles. These results are not the same a surgery or surgery combined with these treatments.
Surgical:
Surgical or invasive procedures reposition our tissue and restore lost volume to rejuvenate our faces. Body contouring can reduce fat deposits, lift sagging skin, and shape arms, hips and thighs. The most common surgical procedures can be grouped into face, breast and body.
Face procedures reposition and restore volume. These include eyelid surgery, forehead lift, face and neck lifts, chin implants, rhinoplasty and ear pinning.
Breast procedures include breast augmentation with implants, lifts and reductions.
Body Contouring includes liposuction, tummy tucks, arm lifts, thigh lifts and body lifts.
