Laser Hair Removal Reviews
"I've been seeing Mancy for so long now. I can believe I'm just now writing a review! Utsouthwestern dermatology referred me to Toledo's electrologist. They told me the machine they have would leave light color spot on my brown skin. I called Mancy and she explained that the machine they use doesn't leave spots, and she told me the whole process of the hair removal treatment. I'm very happy I found Mancy!! She definitely has a passion for her job and will get out those stubborn hairs! She is very nice, she remembers who you are and your last conversation! She is so amazing!! I've had 4 or 5 sessions with her and I've referred my aunt and friend to her. Thanks Mancy!!"- K.T. / Yelp / Mar 22, 2016
"Laser Hair Success. Dallas, TX - I wanted my underarms and Bikini line hair removed before summer so in September I started laser hair removal with Mancy. The machine she used always hurt leaving burns and scabs on my areas. I never thought much of it since I had never had laser hair removal and had nothing to compare it to. However, the sessions started off 45 min long then I noticed after time passed my sessions got shorter. Some even 10 min long and I paid the same price. I noticed after 8 months of treatment I still had stubble and hair growth it was just scabbed. I saw a difference maybe for 1 week, but over all nothing. I had a friend who was also getting laser hair removal and she went to a place that specializes in it and they put numbing cream on her she had no scabs and her hair wasn't growing back. When I mentioned to Mancy my concerns she said it probably was my hair and it wasn't her it was me and I should check with a medical professional which I thought she worked for. She also said she mentioned to me that there's a chance the machine might not work on my skin and I might notice discoloration. I never was told any of this and it was brand new information. So I decided to see my friends lady and within 3 months I'm noticing my hair isn't growing, the lady didn't cause me scabs and she took her time and never once hurt my skin. This office over charges and is cheap when it comes to equipment. As for Mancy, take constructive criticism and don't get lazy."- J. / RealSelf / Mar 31, 2016

Laser hair removal is a gentle procedure that is effective for most individuals. During your consultation, you will go over your needs, concerns, and goals to help determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Ideal patients for laser hair removal:
- Have unwanted facial or body hair
- Are tired of other hair removal techniques (shaving, waxing, depilatory creams, bleaching)
- Are in overall good health
At your appointment, you will be asked to relax in one of our treatment rooms as the needed areas of your skin are cleaned to remove dirt, oil, and lotions. During laser hair removal, a technician will slightly stretch the skin to provide a direct path between the laser and the hair follicle root. The laser beam will target and kill the hair follicle, preventing it from growing back. On average, you will need 4 – 6 sessions to achieve your best results. We recommend 4 – 6 weeks between sessions in order to allow the treated areas time to recover. This also allows time for hair follicles that were in the dormant phase of growth to cycle into the active growth phase so they can be treated. The specialized laser hair removing technology we use at Highland Park Plastic Surgery Center is able to target the hair follicle alone, preserving the skin in the treatment area.
What to Expect
While laser hair removal is relatively gentle in nature, your skin may feel like it has a slight sunburn due to the use of a laser. When you leave our office, you will be free to resume your daily activities, but you should refrain from exercise or sun exposure for a period of 24 hours to let the treated areas heal. When you get home after your session, we recommend anti-inflammatory creams or cold packs to alleviate any discomfort.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does laser hair removal cost?
Laser hair removal is a procedure that varies in cost, depending on the coverage area being addressed on the body, as well as how many sessions are needed to attain a smooth result. To put the cost of laser hair removal into perspective, think of the time and energy you currently spend on waxing, shaving, or other temporary hair removal methods. In comparison, laser hair removal is usually more cost-effective and will save you time and energy in the long-run. We will create a custom treatment plan for you that includes the total number of sessions recommended and pricing options to consider.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is an effective treatment for long-lasting results. While men and women can enjoy the benefits of the treatment for many years, it is considered semi-permanent because some hair follicles may not be affected by the laser. Regardless, patients find the majority of the hair gone after their treatment plan has concluded and even if some hairs pop up, it is very easy to manage. Additional laser hair removal treatments can also be scheduled to take care of any stragglers or new growth.
Why do I need multiple laser hair removal sessions?
Hair growth happens in cycles. While some hair follicles are in a live growing phase, others are dormant. Since each hair follicle grows in various stages, multiple treatment sessions are typically needed to target each hair follicle when it is in a growing phase. Spreading out your sessions over several weeks helps you get the smoothest, most effective result.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal may cause some discomfort, but it is not considered a painful procedure. Some patients will feel a slight sting when the laser targets the hair follicle. For patients who are used to getting waxed, they report that laser hair removal causes much less discomfort than a normal waxing session.
