Amy Vanderoef:
It's wedding season and after months of planning and choosing the perfect dress, the bride not only wants to look her best on her big day, but so does the mother of the bride, and renowned plastic surgeon Dr. George Toledo of Highland Park Plastic Surgery joins us now, along with a patient, and that's Vicki. Good morning to both of you.
Dr. Toldeo:
Good morning.
Vicki:
Good morning.
Amy Vanderoef:
Dr. Toledo, you have a special young lady next to you. What's her story?
Dr. Toldeo:
Well Vicki is very special. She comes to me two months prior to her daughters wedding and says, you know I think I want a new body and a new face for the wedding. I said well Vicki it's only two months, I don't know. Very few people are ever that tough where they can do the whole body and then turn around and do the whole face and then get ready for a wedding. So she's very remarkable that she is... we accomplished that. Two days of surgery, two weeks apart and the wedding was four weeks after the last surgery and everything turned out.
Amy Vanderoef:
Okay so break it down for us. What did Vicki have done, as we look at this before and after picture. It's drastic.
Dr. Toldeo:
Well we're not showing her body, but what we do, we do the body first and we take some of the extra fat from the abdomen and put it in the cheeks around the eyes. We put some skin around the lips to build the lips up and then we lift the brow, reposition the fat from the lower lids down to the cheek hollow and then lift the entire neck up. So it's a combination now of augmenting the center portion of the face, lifting the bottom and lifting the top.
Amy Vanderoef:
Okay.
Dr. Toldeo:
So that gets it back as natural as possible.
Amy Vanderoef:
And Vicki, you said it's hard for you to look at that picture right now and that was just a couple months ago.
Vicki:
Yes. It makes me even happier that I did it.
Amy Vanderoef:
Okay, so obviously you wanted to do this for the experience of your daughters wedding.
Vicki:
Right.
Amy Vanderoef:
Those pictures last a lifetime. How do you think about your results?
Vicki:
Fabulous. I feel like I have freedom. Freedom to dress how I want to and my pictures actually look nice now. I don't know. I feel like the inside matches the outside now.
Amy Vanderoef:
Yeah. You seem pretty emotional about it when you talk about it. Vicki this is exciting to see your reaction to it. You even said to me, you used to avoid wearing necklaces because you hated your neck, and you wear necklaces now right?
Vicki:
Yes I do, and I didn't think that was going to be a thing that I liked the most, but it has turned out to be what I appreciate the most.
Amy Vanderoef:
So you went in there not even think that really bothered you so much and you had other areas of concern, and then when you look at those after pictures you think, wow. This is life changing.
Vicki:
Yes.
Amy Vanderoef:
You hear this story all the time Dr. Toledo.
Dr. Toldeo:
Yeah.
Amy Vanderoef:
People come in and they say they feel young.
Dr. Toldeo:
Yeah.
Amy Vanderoef:
Why don't I match what I see in the mirror.
Dr. Toldeo:
You know those wedding pictures are forever and you're spending thousands and thousands of dollars for those wedding pictures and if you could just kind of tweak a few things, especially on your face, it's a lifetime.
Amy Vanderoef:
Vicki can we say your age?
Vicki:
Sure.
Amy Vanderoef:
59?
Vicki:
Yeah. I'll be 60 soon.
Amy Vanderoef:
Okay, you look awesome and Dr. Toledo another success story. Thank you for sharing it.
Dr. Toldeo:
Thanks Amy.
